How wonderful! CASCADE won the voter’s poll and is The Boston Globe’s first Book Club choice. I was honored to be included with writers I greatly admire: Andre Dubus III, Junot Diaz, Geraldine Brooks, and Claire Messud.
Readers can take part in the club all summer:

Maryanne,
I was trying to learn more about you, since the O’Hara family were my neighbors in Athol, and I was wondering if you were Dr. O’Hara’s daughter. I really enjoyed reading Cascade. It took me away to spend time dreaming of my old hiking spots as I imagined all the little details of the Quabbin. My great-grandparents moved to Athol in the 1800s, and my Mom is the last living relative still there. The story was entertaining, and as with most good reads, I was wishing for more. I was a bit sad that Jacob and Dez never married, as that relationship was so alluring!
I have a dream to write someday myself….many notebooks filled with New England historical fiction. But my academic career doesn’t allow me that privilege just yet.
I look forward to more of your stories!
Kindly,
Pen Fellows Sadlon
Thanks so much for writing, and for sharing a bit of your story. I am not related to any O’Hara people out that way, but it’s interesting to know that there was a Dr. O’Hara in Athol. Best, M
Just checking in and saw this amazing news. Congratulations. So glad your wonderful book is receiving the recognition it deserves.
Thank you so much! It’s been wonderful; feel very grateful. Hope all is well!
